WIN! WIN! WIN!

Moda Jelly Roll Full Circle fabric line available in April - or you can try to win it now!
Hand painted watercolor birdies - want it? you can win it this weekend!

When I moved to Portland 2 years ago, I set up my studio in the basement. We had a spare room upstairs, but we also had a son in college and I wanted him to have a room to come home to. Well....I couldn't take the basement a minute longer and my son said he thought it would be great to have the basement so ... for the past week I made a HUGE move! I'm ABOVE GROUND! I have windows! I couldn't have done it without my good friend (Ms. Muscles) Jen - Thanks Jen!
Now that I am all organized I found a couple of items I would love to share with you. One is a Moda Jelly Roll of my new fabric line Full Circle. This line won't be in stores until April, but it can be yours now! The other item is a watercolor painting I did of a little bird and her nest - spring is right around the corner! It measure about 5" x 7". If you are interested in either of these goodies simply leave the comment "George is the man". I will randomly draw two winners at 5pm on Sunday the 13th. I'm sorry, but I can only mail these within the US. (Sorry Robyn)
My new desk is an old round table I found. I had to cut 9" off of the legs. It has 4 legs instead of a pedestal. There was a small wooden apron around the table so I attached a pleated skirt and a little fringe I had found at an antique store a couple of years ago. I drilled a 2" hole through the table top for all of the cords. The fabulous quilt was a pattern I fell in love with designed by Minnick and Simpson. My mom pieced it for me. My mom also helped me with the table skirt and she made the pillows for my chair. The white cupboard was made by my Grandpa Bert and he used it for his tools. He was an amazing woodworker and a sweet little guy.

I found this chair and a half and it BARELY fit through the door! It was a TIGHT squeeze, but after it made it through the door Jen and I high-fived and I think I let out a loud WHOOPEE!
Zippy has already decided that's her chair. The hooked rug in front of the chair was hooked by the one and only Polly Minnick! The hand mirrors on the wall I have been collecting for a few years. They have been wrapped up and safely stored under my bed waiting for their home here. And last but not least - WINDOWS!!!!

This armoire was a gift from my mother-in-law years ago and now it houses my fabric. Check out all of the quilts on top! Most of them were pieced by my mom, but there are a couple up there that I managed to sew.

THANK YOU! The drawing in now closed.

Kathy

"George!"

Love that fabric and your painting. I am reorganizing myself and thinking spring. Today I made prim eggs.
I have a bird piece that I made with wool and fabrics, now I am thinking that would be a good theme for the spare room. Would be fun to have something different in one room and will use it for guests.

I found your blog while desperately looking for some of the dark brown crackle you designed for Moda about 4 years ago? (time goes so fast when you're over 30) I need it to finish a Burgoyne Surround I'm making for my new bedroom.
I too want a sewing room upstairs.
Best Regards,
Lou

Love the room. The chair just did it for me. I have my sewing maching in a corner of my bedroom and I'm thinking I need to convert my daughter's bedroom into a sewing room. She's getting married this year so it's not like she will be back anytime soon. LOL!
How did you deal with the poor light in the basement? I dream of natural light in a sewing room but it's so darn rare.
Anyway, I also had to comment on the quilt. It is fabulous. I think I need me one of those.

With all that said I will give a shout out to George.. George is the man!! LOL! Have a great day!

George is the man! Oh how fun for you to have a 'real' room now. And I can say from experience, when your son comes home from college, you will LOVE that he's in the basement and so will he. When the last of our boys moved out and left for college I took over that bedroom for my own sewing/computer room. We made a small(VERY small) bedroom in the back area of our house and hubby built an elevated bed to raise it up from the floor and underneath we put a small desk which had storage underneath for his junk he brought home with him. It is wonderful because he can stay up late into the night as most all college kids do when coming home again after being introduced to the freedom of college life. We don't hear anything with him way out there as opposed to his old room being just on the other side of the wall from our bedroom. It is just wonderful and still gives him the freedom to do as he pleases after getting that taste of being on his own at school. Your son will love that and so will you as you won't be hearing him and his tv/music etc late into the middle of the night.
Congrats on the new sewing room where you actually have light. YAY!

Love the fabric and the painting is so sweet! I am sooooo ready for spring. It's going to be 48 degrees here in the Mid-Atlantic on Sunday and we are all excited which tells you how cold it's been. In the fall we would have thought that 48 degrees was cold. LOL!
