CALIFORNIA SPEED TRIP

Steve (my hubby) loves to take jaunts here and there. He can pack more into a 24 hour block of time than anyone I know! We just returned to today from a fun trip.

Steve's Itinerary -
DEPART PORTLAND AIRPORT 4:15PM TUESDAY
Land in Fresno / pick up rental car and drive 2 1/2 hours to Monterey / spend the night.
WEDNESDAY - Swing through Monterey and check out the FANTASTIC aquarium (check out the quilt that was on display)

we had lunch at Pebble Beach
And dinner at the Hog's Breath (Clint Eastwood's restaurant) in Carmel
Then we drove back (2 1/2 hours) to Fresno and spent the night there.
THURSDAY we drove to King's Canyon and the Sequoia National Park (2 + hours).
We are with General Sherman (the tree has a name) in this photo (2,200 years old). We also hiked down to Crystal Caves and took that tour. The hike out was equivalent to climbing 30 flights of stairs in 20 minutes (you would think I would be skinny).

The views in the Park were stunning........
We spent that night back in Fresno then flew home Friday morning. 585 miles of driving in 54 hours. And lots and lots of great memories!

When I started to read your blog I about feel out of my chair. Especially when I saw the first photo. I saw the Monterey Canning Co. in the background. HOME, sigh. I grew up in Monterey and my parents used to have a shop, for a while, on Cannery Row. I'm so glad you had a wonderful trip and the photos are simply heavenly. Cheers!

A lot of fun and beautiful scenery packed into a mini vacation. I think he should plan my trips, I made a mess of ours;)

Sounds like a wonderful trip ----I have been to some of those places and I loved them. My son lives 17 miles from Monterrey and he loves the area. My hubby was stationed many years ago at Ft. Ord and we enjoyed the sights and soundss of that delightful area. Glad you had the chance to enjoy it too. Mrmories, memories....Pauline

You were in my backyard!!! I live just between Yosemite and Fresno and my get away spot is right over there in Pacific Grove/easy access to Monterey and Carmel! I saw you on Jolly Jabber... didn't realize that you had a blog! But now I found you!
